Subject: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: hilda fish Date: 06 Dec 06 - 03:56 AM I am just full of good birthday wishes to all you Capricorns, particularly those whose birthdays are close to the BIG day in December. Do you feel you miss out because of this? My Capricorn friend describes many situations where a combination present was the order of the day. Not fair! So HUGE birthday wishes for you lot. Have a great one. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: John MacKenzie Date: 06 Dec 06 - 04:27 AM Yes I used to have a friend who's birthday was on St Stephen's day, who always used to complain about combined presents, and reckoned getting born then was a bit of a bum rap. Giok |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: Paul Burke Date: 06 Dec 06 - 04:58 AM My Dad's birthday was Dec 25th. He felt he'd really missed out on birthday presents. And his grandson, my nephew, Richard's birthday is Dec 25th too. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: Tinker Date: 06 Dec 06 - 06:58 AM My birthday is three days before Christmas and my daughter is three days after. Rule number one: Never present a birthday present wrapped in Christmas paper. I will place them under the tree to wait for Christmas day. At a young age all the excitement of the season can seem to be just for you. But in my teens when I almost convinced my folks to let me celebrate a half birthday my large extneded family began a 10 year glut of graduations. It does make for a celebratory season. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 06 Dec 06 - 09:12 AM I've never really thought about it before, but I guess having my birthday relegated to second-place (It's hard to compete with New Years Eve.) is a factor in my tendency to ignore others' birthdays. Or maybe it's just because I'm an asshole.... |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: frogprince Date: 06 Dec 06 - 09:32 AM My date's Jan. 9th; never really gave any thought to the proximity; growing up on the farm, there was usually so little cash that a little something for Christmas, and a very nominal birthday present, was about it, anyhow. (Not whimperin'; we were never ragged or undernurished). Dean |

Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: Richard in Manchester Date: 07 Dec 06 - 03:31 PM Funny, that. My birthday's in mid-Jan, and Poor Poor Pitiful Me has long been a favourite of mine. I used to play in this really miserable folk band called the Timekeepers, and we used to do 'Poor Poor...' at the end of the set to cheer everyone up. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: Big Al Whittle Date: 08 Dec 06 - 05:01 AM I was born on the 19th, which is about the last day. I wish I was more Capricorn like - industrious, tidy, thrifty, wise and sear. Instead, I'm abit of a loud mouthed scruffy thicko, who spends whatever he can lay his hands on - and then some. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: GUEST,beachcomber Date: 09 Dec 06 - 04:26 AM My birthday is on Christmas Day and I did feel that I was often "under presented" each year. However it wasn't so much that it was principally Christmas Day but also the fact that I am an Identical Half Twin. ("Zeez, not two of 'im" , did I hear you say ? ) Still, having somebody of equal age and similar likes and dislikes (He sometimes posts on Mudcat too) always available, growing up, was mostly an advantage. We had our only serious falling out when he "stole my gal" but that was many moons ago and long forgiven. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: AgingRS Date: 09 Dec 06 - 07:01 AM Ah Hilda I'll just change it to AgingRSmas day on the 23rd and work on the 25th |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: GUEST Date: 09 Dec 06 - 11:55 PM my birthday is the 21st.. so on the assumption that's winter solstice day.. every year on my birthday i have todouble bolt all the doors and windows and hide inside my house.. just in case local deranged hippy pagan women want to sacrifice me in a big burning wicker man shaed basket or something equally as scary ! |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: GUEST,Scoville Date: 10 Dec 06 - 12:07 AM I cannot believe people who think they can get away with "combined" gifts. I'd never do that to somebody. My birthday's July 4 (which makes me a Cancer. And a crab. Stop laughing), which is luckily not a gift-giving holiday but I always have to stay home to avoid the drunk drivers and make sure nobody shoots a firecracker into my garage. I had a grandmother whose birthday was Hallowe'en, the lucky dog. You could have great birthday parties with that. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: Severn Date: 10 Dec 06 - 10:05 AM My late father's birthday was Dec. 29th. You could never get him to tell you what he wanted for Christmas, which made coming up with two ideas for presents extra hard. Ask him what he wanted and he'd just grumble, "Peace and quiet!". Wherever you are, old guy, I hope you've got it. My birthday is on the 30th. I find myself wanting less and less for Christmas these days, and more time to actually enjoy and make use of what I have, so that I won't have to consider it overstock. So I don't feel quite as cheated as I did when I was a kid about my birthday, as I'm alone now and busy enough with work and other things and don't even seem to have enough time for myself. As I get older, I actually begin to see where my dad was coming from as I guess I'm getting more and more like him as the years escape too fast and the days too slow. If my daughter and a few friends come through enough to justify me remembering what day it is, that's all I really need. Yeah, but I DID feel shortchanged for many, many years.... |

Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: Scoville Date: 11 Dec 06 - 10:35 AM I'm sure they are, guest, but it goes both ways. Sometimes stinginess knows no boundaries, too. People shouldn't be skimping on the thought that counts. |
Subject: RE: BS: To all you amazing Capricorns From: GUEST Date: 11 Dec 06 - 05:30 PM Born on 12/23, always felt cheated. But worse than getting the xmas wrapped birthday gift or combined gift is that you find out you're just not important. My sisters each got birthday cards from grandparents mailed to them; mine was handed to me two days late, because "you were going to be here anyway." Wow, I guess I'm not worth the effort it would take to receive it on time. My eldest sister was born on January 1. Her first three kids were born on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Mother's Day. The saving grace being that these are all day-dependent holidays rather than date dependent. Her fourth child was born three days after xmas. |
