I finally had a chance to see the movie Freaks last night, after reading about it for years. It's a fascinating, very warm, humorous movie. At one point, Cleopatra is caught red handed putting Ptomaine into medicine for the dwarf she has married for his money. Two other dwarves are in the side show wagon and see her doing it.

One of them is playing an ocarina.

Make that two good ocarina players.

Three if you count me when I was eleven.

Thanks for that Jack. I have a metal one similar to the one on your site, which was made in Paris by H Mathieu in c1880, on 'Ebay UK' site at the moment. (Item No 280083368694)if anyone is interested.
I am just learning to play on a clay one made in Vienna c1900. Makes a lovely sound if I can only get the notes in the right order...LOL.

That's some sort of record - isn't there a group somewhere that tries to find phrases that Google can't give links for? I think there's an expression for that too.
