one in 8 GBP spent at Tesco? Not at Rouge Towers nor at the car garage either.

This is the price of an oligopoly. The bigger they come - the bigger they fall. And every little helps.

Just imagine what Tescofood is doing.

sure, H&S ensures it doesn't cause you to stall but ................

According to today's news - the quality of Tesco's (and other supermarket's) petrol would appear to be suspect and causing damage to the cars that use it..............

Thousands of cars have broken down after drivers bought petrol from supermarket forecourts in the South of England.

Trading standards officers from Norfolk to Northamptonshire and East Sussex are investigating petrol purchased at Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. Testing is taking place on samples from the affected vehicles and the forecourts.

Since last week many motorists have reported their cars being sluggish and said that they were unable to rev freely — problems generally linked to fuel. The retailers confirmed that their supplies for petrol in the South East came from Greenergy, which distributes from West Thurrock, Essex.

My other half's daughter is one victim.
An engine warning light came on. Took to garage yesterday morning and was asked straight off if she had filled at Tesco. She had.

I'm told that over here the discount fuel dealers (home heating oil) buy from wholesalers and they get the bottom of the tanks which may contain sludge. I found sludge in the bottom of my oil tank in the garage but I can't prove that it wasn't there before I started buying from a cheaper company.
Keep those filters clean, especially in a diesel engine.

Here in sunny Aycliffe the Tesco contaminated petrol controversy has been simmering for a few weeks. Letters to the local press regarding serious engine damage have been accusing Tesco of selling mixed petrol and diesel. You may be surprised to learn that Tesco have denied this.
The news report yesterday mentioned Tesco AND Morrisons as supplying
contaminated fuel.

We have various reports of "duff" petrol being sold from mainly supermarket outlets. There seems to be a common link of one suplier for all of the affected outlets. The DOT tests are due in tomorrow and we should have a better idea by then! The "obvious" causes that have been ruled out by the supermarkets are Bio-fuel/ petrol proportion too high and Silicon contamination.
The problem may already be coverd up and over as the industry replenishes supplies daily!

Trouble is, sooner or later, Tescos, Sainsbury's and Morrisons are the ONLY places where you can fill up with petrol. From a convenient 5 local petrol stations within a 1 mile radius, we're down to 2, with 2 more 2 miles away, and we're in London for pity's sake!

Well, that makes sense LTS, because if you're in London, you soon won't be able to afford to run a car at all, if Blair and Livingstone have their way.
