BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread

29 Dec 07 - 12:50 AM (#2224130)
Subject: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread
From: GUEST,Another secretary:-)

In order to keep the accounts up to date and organized (I know like herding cats), we've started this "Check-In Thread" for Santees who have not received their prezzies and Santas who have not heard from their Santees. Please post if you are either one. To the Santees...you never know, there may be an alternate Santa in your life.

Ol' Santa's had some problems (Cupid's carburetor broke down and Vixen was in heat), so s/he is going to send out what passes for presents on Monday next, s/he hopes. Tabster should receive her presents by Candlemas, or next Lady Day, or maybe in time for the Michaelmas term. Almost assuredly before next Christmas.

And that last-minute strike by the Elves, well, Santa took care of THAT nonsense.

I know my Santee has had the package I posted, because it's been acknowledged several times over. And my Santa has checked in, too, so some time in the next twelve months I'm sure I'll receive something. Hey, it's just like my family and birthdays ... it's like a form of savings! The official date goes by and so do up to twelve months and then suddenly there you are with a present!

Oy Sarah -

There's naught fer me to do on my end. Pressie Box hasn't been returned. US Postals peoples sez iffin it was coming back herez, its woulda been herez by now. It might be wise fer yez to ask yer employer ta looks into that there mail situation. Iffin they ordered their mails ta beez forwarded, Pressie Box shoulda been forwarded. It were sent First Class Air Mail (Par Avion dontcha know!) but not in anways of requirin' a signature lessen the royal mail folk require signatures for boxes from some t'other countries far away.

Nothin can be dun 'bout ta pressie box on my end. Sorry. Iffin I talks about it much morez, Iz gonnaa strts a wailin' and gnashin' my 3 remainin' teefs.

Yez need to puts on yer deerstalker cap and play at Sherlock Holmesing teh pressie box outta hiding! Good stuffs in that there pressie box. Has yez a bloodhound? Iffin yez let him sniff some chocolate, some popcorn and some spearmints, and tells him "Go find boy!" he mights sniff teh pressie box out fer yez.

I gots some meager little xxxtra pressies I was gonna send but Iz gonna wait til I knows you be back at work an then - I gonna sends 'em surface mail cuz I done blew the pirate postal allowance on teh 1st box. Hopes yez understand.

Yer Big Pressie box wuz mailed on December 4th from Beverly Hills CA 90212 to the first address yez gave the squeaky gal iffin that helps yez track it down. My guess - it's at that old office place or sittin' whar orphaned mails of recently moved offices tend to be sittin'' whartever thats might be.

From: GUEST,Artbrooks's Santa, waiting and wondering

Your pressie was sent on the weekend before Christmas, and I'm rather keen to find out if you got it yet. I know it does have a long way to go - I just hope it didn't melt, or the inquisitive postal possums at our end didn't get their sticky little fingers and toes on it first. They are pretty good at sniffing out sweet things.

There are a few hints for you there, from your Southern Fried Santa, who is trying to catch a cool breeze while she slaves over a hot computer.

Just a tip - try not to drop it. There is something in there that could get rather messy if it's broken - but it is well padded so it should be all right.

Hmmm well the mystery deepens - this is a real piratical tale!!!!!
I am soo sooo sooooo sorry secret santa for all this hassle
What I have found out....
The Royal Mail is only redirecting pirate letters not piraty parcels
The old work offices have received nuffin
Parcel force who deal with piratical parcels say they can't track it without a number. That should have been given when you launched the parcel onto the pirate skies......do you have the number????????? If so we can do a sky battle and capture it back and hoist the jolly roger (or whoever else has got their mitts on this pirate treasure)

Yours hopefully

Maybe the Elves were tired & have slowed down a bit, but I'm waiting hopefully for a knock on the door. The chimmney is no good as we had a new flue installed last year. Please let us know if I've missed any one and, if you want a Rescue Santa, that would be good to know, too:

Joybell - has Santa, but it's going to be late

Tabster - Santa has checked in - had problems - still waiting

bet - nothing since early on - a Rescue Santa has stepped forward

my guru always said - has a Santa, but no gift, yet - the mails seem s-l-o-w

Stilly River Sage - Santa did check in, waiting for delivery

MMario - has a Santa, but no present, yet

Ranger1 - nothing since early on - may need a Rescue Santa

Foolestroupe - nothing showing up, yet - may need an RS, too!

You can add me to that list, as per message below.

I don't need a rescue Santa, though. There might be all kinds of reasons why a parcel doesn't come, and not always the fault of the Santa. If memory serves, and the Postal Orks ate my my first ever Secret Santa parcel. I know what was sent, and I still hold the virtual present as a fond memory.

Still nothing here, either ... LTS, is my package likely to be coming from the UK or further afield? Because if it's coming from the UK and if my Santa posted it, as was said in a message, on NY Eve, then it's probably gone astray as our mail is flowing fairly smoothly. If from elsewhere obviously anything could be happening! I got very excited yesterday but it was only some promo stuff from Vistaprint ...*sigh*

Maybe my package has gone to the same place where a lot of my socks seem to have vanished to lately? I've been a rescue santa before, maybe I'll have to get out my charge card and rescue myself!

I'm not at home at the moment so can't check the files... I will have time tomorrow to look over the lists and see who had whom.

Bear in mind that of a batch of Christmas cards that I sent out on December 15th, to addresses in the UK, one arrived last week, nearly three weeks after the others.

If you have not received your Secret Santa gift, please PM me and I will make a note of it. Also, as Katlaughing suggested above, PM me to volunteer as a Rescue Santa and I will match you up with someone, but I won't do it until Candlemas (Feb 2nd) to give the post office a chance.

Remember, I may be in charge, but I'm not responsible.

And whaddya know??!! My pressie WAS there waiting for me when I got home from work! YAY! The date on the customs declaration is Jan. 7, so presumably this is the second package to be sent. No sign of the first one -- maybe it'll be returned to you?

Anyway, it's a beautiful wool throw from Wales -- something I can actually use! And I'm now 99.9% certain my wonderful Santa is SussexCarole, bless her heart! As an extra bonus, I'll get to thank her in person next week!

Thank you, Carole!

If Santa is abroad he/she doesn't need to be fooling with this, unless it provides entertainment for them. You want to be careful, taking those reindeer into some climates. They're liable to end up with sand fleas or sunburned hooves.

Unfortunately, the armor was rusted when it got here and the pony got the scours and filled the yacht and car with...anyway, after the vet cured the pony he ran away. Otherwise, I now speak Welsh although with a Transylvanian accent.

You want it on a Silver Secret Santa Salver maybe? That was a slam-dunk hint, and a search engine or two will triangulate more rapidly than I can type in this reply.

I'm using invisible text to stretch it out a little longer. . .   :)

Well ... you will NEVER GUESS! I've been Santa'd!

A parcel arrived today from jacqui.c ... and she only asked me for my address 5 days ago! I don't know if she's my actual Relief Santa or mailing it on behalf of someone but it was a real delight to receive it!

There are a couple of Maine fridge magnets (in a nifty box), and a book of New England recipes (I feel the driving need to make cornbread) and a truly wonderful hand-crocheted teal blue shawl in which I am wrapped even as I type. Exactly MY colour and I've turned off the central heating so I can enjoy it to its full potential ... and make a contribution to energy conservation in the process.

Awww ... really ... you didn't have to, people, but what a wonderful treat. Christmas in May! (Unfortunately, we're still enjoying Christmas weather as well, but what the heck!)

Thanks jacqui, thanks Liz, and may I either be the last / one of the last to wish you a Happy Christmas 2007 or the first to wish you a happy Christmas 2008.

sian
