This year it is a significant one with a "0" at the end. Colin tells me that Ray, whilst in reasonable health at present (she certainly looked good to me this pm), is too fragile to contemplate a special event at this time. However with his agreement, I'm putting out a call for birthday cards, from anywhere you happen to be, but all over the world if possible, sent to her at: 5,Denebank, Monkseaton, WHITLEY BAY, NE25 9AE, UK He thinks this would really tickle her fancy, and she'd have great fun opening them. Yes Robyn, the big one really is this year. Someone further up the postings mentioned "other goodies". For those who don't Ray well, please don't send her any items of food. She doesn't care for chocolate, is diabetic, and is on a very special diet due to the stomach surgery she had a few years ago. If you really want to add anything, perhaps photos from wherever you are? Just knowing that people round the world care about her now she can't really sing out in public, and are rooting for her in terms of health, will be an enormous tonic. It is a home-made card and has a photo of Ray, wearing black and I'm standing beside her. It was taken at the Auckland Folk Festival in January 2001, when Ray, Colin, Johnny and a bunch of Northumbrian pipers toured New Zealand. Colin is hidden by one of the cards in front.
