It's not often a battle is commemorated by a magnificent song from each side. The Battle of Gorizia between Italy and Hungary, August 1916:

I missed an obvious point: the Slovenians were in the middle. The multiethnic but mostly Slovene city of Gorizia became the Aleppo of WW1, blasted out of existence. One Slovenian song on the battle became almost an anthem:

And it's still going on. There are wildfires burning all along the river Isonzo, and the firefighters can't get close enough to put them out because unexploded shells are going off.
