I did find the lyrics in the DT but the prefix I picked for the thread is the closest to what I would like your help with. My song circle this evening didn't like the key we were singing this in so I volunteered to check for an alternative, they are "ludite-like,"and only one other uses a PC and knows a thing about the web. I spent quite a bit of time doing a web search but came up empty handed. There just didn't seem to be a site that contained the chords anywhere. Well, here is where I hope one of you will be helpful and provide either the chords or a blue clicky or point me to an address. I hope to be able to go back to the group and brag about this cafe yet again, as I have often regarding various songs in our collection for which I've gleaned info from your postings. So let me thank you in advance for your help.

Ellen

These chords are from a piano arrangement in E flat

TEDDY BEARS PICNIC
(Words by John W. Bratton
Music by James B. Kennedy)

If (Cm)you go (Gm)down to the (Cm)woods to(G7)day
You're (Cm)sure of a (G7)big sur-(Cm)prise.
If (Eflat)you go (Bflat7)down to the (Eflat)woods to(Bflat7)day
You'd (Eflat)better go (Bflat7)in dis-(Eflat)guise.
For (Fm7)every (Edim)bear that (Fm)ever there (Bflat7)was
Will (Eflat)gather there for certain, because
To -(Aflat)day's the (Eflat)day the (Aflat)teddy bears (Eflat)have their (Bflat7)pic-(Eflat)nic.

Every teddy bear, who's been good Is sure of a treat today There's lots of marvellous things to eat And wonderful games to play Beneath the trees, where nobody sees They'll hide and seek as long as they please 'Cause that's the way the teddy bears have their picnic
If you go down to the woods today, You'd better not go alone. It's lovely out in the woods today, But safer to stay at home. For every bear that ever there was Will gather there for certain, because Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic (Eflat)Picnic time for teddy bears,
The little teddy bears are having a (Edim)lovely (Fm7)time to-(Bflat7)day.
Watch them, (Csharp)catch (Bflat7)them un-a-(Edim)wares,(Bflat7)
And see them picnic on their (Eflat)hol-i-(Edim)day.
(Eflat)See them gaily gad about.
They love to play and shout.
They never have any (Aflat)cares.
At six o'clock their mummies and (A)daddies
Will (Edim)take them home to bed
Be-(G7)cause they're (Fm)tired little (Bflat7)teddy (Eflat)bears. (Bflat7)(Eflat)

Something went wrong with my "carriage return" instructions. Let's have another go and see if I can get it right!

Ah, but do you play the instrumental interlude, or do you skip that part when in the song circle?

For an absolutely hilarious interpretation, find a copy of Paul Langille's latest album "Same Way, Different". When asked (been told) to play at a children's workshop early one Sunday morning at a festival, he decided the best way to make sure he was never asked to do that again was to scare everybody. Hence his (dare I say it?) "grizzly" version!

Tim Dalling (Old Rope String Band) does a genuinely terrifying performance of this song, a complete masterpiece.

Nic Jones did the tune as a brilliant guitar solo, it's on 'In Search of Nic Jones'.

Thank you to those who efforted themselves to answer my query. I am appreciative, Jeff and Doug. Sharon A., the three quitarist in the group would probably love to at least attempt an interlude but the group is weighted by singers only who can be like steam rollers. Anyway, that would require us to work at it outside the group and we are all too busy to even try. Our gathering is all about fun; who needs more work? Thanks again!

Ellen
