Cyber-klutz that I am, I hooked up a cheap Umax to my Mac SCSI chain and never had any trouble, probably because I ignored the OCR stuff and just went for doing graphics with PhotoShop and QuarkXpress. I've never even installed the OCR program. The Mac, by the way, is not the machine I use to communicate with all you Mudcatters. My Internet connection is via an IBM clone the office machine) running Windows 95. My wife just got a Gateway with Win 95 and a scanner, but I haven't tried it out for OCR stuff yet. The scanner is mostly for making use of "Jaws" - the scanning program by Kurzweil that reads the pages aloud for the vision-impaired in a reasonably pleasant male voice. When I get done with all this production work for the new CDs, I'll have time to experiment with it. Fun and games!
