I learned a version of "The Pricklye Bush" from A. L. Lloyd in 1958. Taught it to Judy Collins in Denver in 1959. I think it's on her first Elektra recording. Caroline and I recorded Frank Proffitt's Child #95 titled "Joshuay" ( a fine version of the ballad) on our Folk-Legacy "New Harmony" (CD-100). We sing it in parallel fifths, by the way, so no matter which voice you tend to follow on the recording, you're still singing the melody. Using a different, cookieless computer these days. Gonna have to get that fixed, when I can remember what my password is. Sandy Paton
