Just because I (for example) refuse to allow those comments in my home in the name of politeness doesn't mean they can't be said. You don't have to go far to find hate speech and bigotry protected by the 1st Amendment. Never fear, racial and ethnic slurs are safety protected where they should be if you are wistful for them. Political free speech is in a lot more danger.
