I stopped going to folk clubs inthe late 1980s when they [ all ] started booking pop singers to try to attract young people in. I started going to folk clubs in the late 1960s when everything seemed so vibrant and alive, we were more politically aware , and I tend to agree with what Ewan MacColl once said that the folk club movement lost it's way when it started to abandon it's political content. |
