poke is the diminutive of pocket (I am told) hence the "Pig in a Poke" which was probably a cat anyway. So a paper bag (originally a cloth sack on would presume) looks like it all fits neatly - except when you let the "cat out of the bag" (same reference).

By clicking on the Date (Posted), you will dig out every message posted that day.
