I don't think this thread was started with bigotry in mind. Is it bigotry to talk about the real origins of a song? Has anyone said Irish CAN'T sing them? So many of the songs in the irish tradition are Scottish anyway, but they are still GOOD SONGS. Just scanning the back of a Dubliner's recording, here are a few: The High Reel (Lord MacDonald, Lord MacDonald's March to Harlaw). Tramps and Hawkers. Banks of the Roses.
