In the mid 1960's I heard the McPeake Family at the Village Gate in NY - Part of the Broadside Hootenannies. Old Francis said that he wrote it as a young man. Nowing the meaning of Thyme and seeing his grin as they were singing it left no doubt in my mind that he had certainly sang it as a young man anyway. Bob Lusk
