No one's mentioned Camille West. I just heard "The Nervous Wreck of Edna Fitzgerald" a week ago, and can't get it out of my head. The second verse sums it up:
Our tranquility about three miles to sea Suddenly came to an end-o When the kid started saying, No way am I staying I'd rather be playing Nintendo The captain said, ho there, you little snot I paid fifty grand for this family yacht You're going to enjoy yourself, like it or not So you'd better learn how to pretend-o (We all caught the man's innuendo)
...and it's followed up by a rollicking sea-shanty type chorus. This is the lady that also wrote "Toe to Toe with the HMO," certainly a song for our times.
