Tobyjug BS: PayPal. The Bank from Hell (58* d) RE: BS: PAYPAL. THE BANK FROM HELL. 16 Jul 05

I have recently had my first problem with PayPal after I changed my account to a Business Account, so I could receive payments for translation work. Up until then I had no problems buying stuff via eBay and from other sites.

Then someone tried to pay me an advance for an assignment, and tilt. The transaction could not be processed. Reverted to electronic fund transfer between banks.
At the same time I was trying to buy something for my son's birthday from a site where I regularly use PayPal. Whammo - transaction could not be completed.

Called Paypal by telephone - sorry, they said, seems to be a glitch with your recent change to Business account, we'll look into it. In the meantime they would revert my account to a Payment only account. I asked for an e-mail to advise me as soon as the problem had been resolved (bug fixed!). Paid for my son's birthday present successfully using PayPal.

Three days later received an e-mail advising me that problem was still being investigated, and to get back to them in two-weeks' time. I e-mailed them back asking if I could work around their bug by opening a new account.

I'm still waiting for a reply!

Seems they are not too keen for paying customers to use their facilities to be paid, even though they charge a fee!
