Except that, even with 24 hour licensing it's nigh on impossible to get a drink in France after 8.00 p.m. except in the main cities. I think what is misunderstood here is that people think that all pubs in the UK will suddenly be open 24 hours a day. They won't. Obviously. That they can if they want to is the issue. And most won't want to, except of course in the main towns and cities where excessive drinking is already a major problem. That having been said, this is probably the most stupid thing this government has achieved in all its term. Soon to be superseded in the most-stupid-stakes by the patio/conservatory tax. What did we expect?
