I'm not sure you can point to many local lads who have been lost to the big clubs - part of Boro's success has been brought about by buying cheaply players who are near the end of their careers. Maybe the downfall of the academy will prove to be that, but I don't recall many young locals who were sold to big clubs recently. How far back do you want to go - Gary Pallister (albeit born in Ramsgate), Geoff Butler, Brian Clough .....
