To explain again about the price of camping during Folk Week... The Moor & Coast Festival is a "not for profit festival". All monies raised are put back into the festival to promote live music, (based in the folk tradition), in and around Whitby. No one is paid and all give up their time for free... The opportunity arose last year that the Community College grounds became available to us during Folk Week. We consulted with the Folk Week organisation and they gave us their blessing to use the site to raise funds for the continuation of promoting music in the town, by providing a temporary campsite for the week. This we are repeating again this year. The college make most of the money charged for camping, this goes into their student fund for extras not provided by the local authority. The rest goes towards the festival for music, song and dance. It is "win, win, win situation", with campers getting a good site during folk week, the college students getting a large injection of funds and the Moor & Coast Festival being able to remain financialy viable The site was well received last year and bookings are going well for this year... I hope this clears up any queries people may have... If they wish to talk to me in more detail then I can be contacted through our website... Glen Rogers Moor & Coast Festival Director
