Having to pillage and rape and other ordinary things
People tend to want you hanging cause you're
Taking all their pearls and diamond rings

Having to watch the horizon every day for sail
And it's either a rich merchantman, or an armed frigate
Riches, or a ropes end and left hanging in a jail

It's not that easy being a pirate
You try dividing jewels and rich spoils amongst your crew
They cant understand the quantities, or count it, mate
And they expect so much what can a captain do?

When the cannon balls are flying up your way
Ahhh the fighting gets you feeling kinda frightened
So you turn to drinking rum at the end of every day

It's not that easy being a pirate
Having to end an argument by killing half your crew
It wasn't about treasure or a woman made them irate
But the fact that the cook served up cold stew
