Fischer praised the 9/11 terrorist attacks, saying that he wanted "to see the US wiped out". Although his mother was Jewish, he described Jews as "thieving, lying bastards".

In his last years, Fischer directed his venom at the chess establishment, alleging that the outcomes of many top-level matches were decided in advance.
