The song's title is 'Is Fada mo Chosa gan Bróga' and Caitlín's album first appeared in 1976. It was certainly popular in Donegal - Séamus Ennis collected it from Nóra Ní Ghallchóir of Gortahork. All that the album's notes reveal is that while popular in the Ulster province it was sung in Connemara too with the implication that her native region was the source of Caitlín's version. 'Love takes a beating from separation. It's a man's song, so Caitlín has changed, where need be, mnaá to fir. And why not? No song brings out more consistently the sweetness of her voice.' Said notes were written by the poet Pearse Hutchinson.
