The Ben Miller band that Scot Leeper is in is pretty darn good. They certainly play out a lot. It's hard to tell about Scott's bass playing because there is just too much going on in their recordings. He does lay down a good foundation though. And he's much better than the washtub bass in the Juggernaut Jug Band (when its used). Anywho. Washtub bass players are so few and far between its hard to judge or compare with others, and why should you. It's not a competition. My goal is to play good bass and enjoy doing it.
