GUEST,Martin Foster Irish girl singers from 1950s and 1960s: (52* d) Irish girl singers from 1950s and 1960s: 01 May 09

Hi,

There is a thread on here about the one and only, the great Irish ballad singer Bridie Gallagher. Bridie was a huge star in the 50s and 60s and she paved the way for all Irish singers to follow with her hits like "The girl from Donegal", "Goodbye Johnny dear" and the biggest hit of all "Boys from the Co Armagh".
However, does anybody out there remember any of Bridie's contemporaries like Eileen Donaghy, Ruby Murray, Teresa Duffy and Maisie McDaniel? Also Carmel Quinn, Anna McGoldrick, Delia Murphy, Sheelagh Warde, Kathleen Fitzgerald, Rose Brennan, Nita Norry and Margaret Barry?
Please come back and let me know.
Thanks.
