What all these threads about "what is folk?" prove IMHO is that people find folk/traditional important enough to debate. Even if they can't agree, it's obviously da*med important. Maybe it's important because people realise that there's something "good" about folk/traditional/etc. I think the real question is: what is "good" about folk music? What is the good example it sets?
