Seems strange to me that posters sound disparaging about the Green Dragon having more than one live music event. The Gathering in May did not "dub itself" a Gathering; the landlord, whose personal choice the event was, chose to use the name for a number of reasons. Firstly, he has called his live folk music events a "Gathering" for about 10 years now. Secondly, it demonstrates that it is a small folk club style event rather than a big festival. Thirdly, being a wordsmith himself, he enjoyed the play on words with the nursery rhyme "Gathering nuts in May"..... As for sniping about the "full festival price" cost of the May event, I wish all the festivals I go to (& I go to a lot) were anywhere near as cheap: £50 for Steve Tilston + Roger Davies + Bob Fox + the Young'uns + Tom McConville Big Band + The Doonan Family Band + Sherburn & Bartley (Vin Garbutt had he not been stranded in Singapore by volcanic ash) and loads of brilliant but less well known performers. Amazing value I would say. Personally, I think Mark Thompson the Landlord is a Live Music hero and should be supported, congratulated and thanked for his various promotions. PS I am not a Performer and am only involved as an enthusiastic, volunteer helper. Sue
