In Florida we are currently trying to bring a bill to the Legilature that would require the pawnshop to take a digital image of certain item(s) that are pawned/ sold and in addition to the identifying information required by Florida law we a proposing they add a digital image of the person pawning/ selling the item (s). All of this information is then to be uploaded to a statewide database, which only the law enforcement have access to, at the end of each business day. All of this was started after my mother-in-law was murdered on August 3, 2009 and we found out how arduous a task police have when trying to go from pawnshop to pawnshop to locate stolen goods.
