My surname is Gibler, hard g, unlike gibs on a lathe. But I had a French professeur who insisted on the pronunciation Jib-lay. I like the soft Gillie, cuz it sounds like jelly which Gillian is sweeter than. I met her once so I know. I told her, "Gee, I love, uh... gosh, I like to do your uh songs mmm er Gosh thanks. You're really Great!"
