I think Barbarian started out as a Greek term.....and yes it litteraly meant babbler....anyone who didn't speak Greek was a Barbarian. The Romans later picked up the word and used it to describe anyone who didn't appreciate the benefits of Roman governance and unilateral descision making...... |
