When I was a child (like many others I suspect) popped the top off (saving it for later or course) and then tipped as many as I could cram into my mouth. My mother would only accept the orange ones when I offered her Smarties as she said they tasted of orange - I never believed her. Imagine my surprise that in my 30s I found out the orange ones did indeed taste of orange. These days I no longer tip them wholesale into my mouth and always ensure the orange ones are eaten seperately so I savour the flavour. IIRC (and according to wikipedia) brown smarties were originally coffee flavoured (YUK!!!!)
