There is a song about the four generals including Franco, each leading a "column" of soldiers from different directions against the Republican armies (with the "Fifth Column" being anti-republicans furnishing intelligence, performing sabotage, etc. This was the origin of the phrase, "the fifth column," meaning spies, saboteurs, and other traitors, hidden among the loyal citizens of a nation at war). I don't know the song, but it may be somewhere in one of Oak Publications' song books. |
