Here, the Lyrics of Emma in Finnish

Emma
tune trad
lyrics Evert Suonio

vasten mun palavaa rintaani
sinä omistit minut minä omistin sinut
ja me tahdoimme lempiä alati
oi...

Sinä estelit minua epäilemästä
et tahtonut minulle petosta
ja puhtahan lempes ja viattoman rakkautes
lupasit minulle uhrata
oi ...

Minä uskoin ja vannoin ja sormuksen annoin
ja lupasin olla sun omasi
sinä valasi taitoit ja lahjastani laitoit
vain heiluvat renkahat korviisi
oi...

Oh do you remember, Emma, that moonlight night
when together we were returning from the dance
you gave your word and took your oath
and promised to be my own
oh Emma emma oh Emma Emma and promised to be my own

You whispered to me press your head
against my burning breast
you owned me and I owned you
and we wanted to love forever
oh Emma...

You prevented me from being suspicious
you didn't want me to be betrayed
and your pure devotion and innocent love
you promised to offer to me
oh Emma...

I believed and I vowed and I gave a ring
and promised to be your own
you broke your oath and had my present turned
into swinging ear rings
oh Emma...

Emma (sung by Ture Ara klik) was the first "hit record" (1929) in Finland.
It also is the first tune that I (and many others I believe) learned to play on mandolin. But what really struck me a couple of years later was this.
