The Rompney Castle,Cardiff, WALES: I have often heard people say things along the lines of "A church is not the building, it's the people inside". The Rompney is a fantastic old stone building with twisted chimneys and real ales etc. etc. But it is the people inside it that makes the place what it is. The landlords have come and gone over the years but the locals are a fantastic mix of ages and political persuasions with varied senses of humour where absolutely no one is safe from a well thought barb that will leave everyone in stitches. It is a place where literally everyone is made welcome and there is none of the "sizing up" of unfamiliar faces many other places suffer from. No food (but we all bring our own in on birthdays, rugby internationals etc.), no music (in the lounge) but neither is a problem. If me and my family want music or food we go elsewhere anyways. My favourite pub, will be there in a few hours!!!
