Mick Lowe BS: Time to come together (21) BS..Time to come together 11 Dec 00

This is a rather radical thread.. so if you are of a nevous disposition.. please leave now..

I don't know if you are like me.. in that you've spent countless fruitless hours scouring the internet for a particular song or tune, only to be presented with the same old material or worse still.. a no-longer existant website from a search engine.

Well a thought occured to me this evening in that we here at the mudcat have the power to change all that. Now first off I have to say I am not intending to take away anything from this ultimate of sites.. so Joe/Dick.. don't get worried.. what I am proposing is filling a niche that the cat doesn't profess to occupy.. The DT will always be the biggest source of folk related lyrics on the internet...

What I want to draw everyone's attention to is the fact that this is the internet.. a purely global community.. the only one of its kind, never before have people all over the globe been able to share and communicate in such a way.

But I'm prevarocating.. to the nub of the issue. My concept is the ultimate folk/celtic/traditional music site. A site where even the casual surfer can find exactly what they are looking for.. this may be in a series of well documented and current links, or better still in an all comprehensive, all encompassing site. Such a site is not the work of a single individual.. what I am proposing here is that music webmasters of the world unite and produce the ultimate resource. I know this idea may fall on stoney ground, especially with people who have created sites with lyrics etc.. purely as an exercise in learning web-authoring techniquies.. but what I am proposing is a total global co-operation and sharing..

I know this is a rather radical thought and I've not even begun to explain my rationale behind it all... but if you wish to discuss it further with me.. then please email me here
