Couple of years ago I attended interesting 'talk' by Brian Peters illustrated by a succession of 'old' recordings of source singers most of whom were poor singers (subjective opinion), but clearly had made a contribution to the 'folk' world. Listen to Justin Hayward drifting off the note in Nights in White Satin - still sold zillions! Isn't it part of the folk charm? I find super sweet note perfect voices boring (SO). Pitch is clearly not heard by everyone - witness the need for those damn digital tuners everwhere ( read Roger Bucknalls article on tuning on the Fylde site, very interesting. ) Sori - my point, don't make any comments.
