Lighter, Logue must be referring to a well-enough known ballad tune of the 1600s - see in William Chappell, Popular Music of the Olden Time (1859, repr Dover, 1965) pp. 431-2. But I can't figure out why, for the words as we have them don't fit too well and the minor tune isn't related to the common one. What exactly did CL say? |
