Songs with the title "Broken Hearted Lover" were recorded by the Carter Family in 1932, this recording appeared on a Victor 78, and in 1935, this latter recording appearing on quite a few different 78's. The Carolina Buddies recorded it in 1931 for Columbia. Ernest Stoneman's version was recorded in 1928, for Victor, and the Delmore Brothers cut it for Decca in 1940. There was also a recording by Cal Davenport for Vocalion in 1929. It could well be that these recordings are for different, though similarly titled, songs. Further details may be found in Tony Russell's invaluable book "Country Music Records. A Discography 1921 - 1942." Published by Oxford University Press, 2004.
