It's not exactly like that, Jack. Mexico is a much more pleasant place to live than Syria, at least as Syria is right now(in former times, it would have been an interesting discussion). A lot of Americans(well, US citizens-Mexicans are Americans, too) have moved to Mexico-at least a million, because the cost of living is much lower and there are many beautiful places to live. Plus the lifestyle is not viciously competitive, and people are generally more relaxed and friendly. The idea that there are huge numbers of Mexicans who have no alternative but to get out is not exactly accurate, however there are a lot of areas, most notably near the US border, where violence related to drug trafficking is a major issue. Worth noting that, if not for the huge market for illegal drugs in the US, the drug cartels would not exist, which, to me, at least, is a greater concern than outsourcing of manufacturing.
