Anne and I popped in to see him tonight for a few minutes and were surprised by how well he is doing. He has had the breathing tube removed and was able to say a couple of words, though I imagine it must be painful, and he was having to cough to keep his chest clear, which must also be painful. He was moving all limbs, apparently without hindrance and was seeing through his right eye. His left eye remains closed but I don't know if this is deliberate. He was squeezing hands in greeting and I think trying to reassure Hilary, in which regard he was successful. Robin
