Many years ago I read that some Scots started to settle in a valley with Native American Indians, but the Indians threw the Scots out. The Scots named the valley "Red" for the "red men", aka, the Indians. It was sort of a lament but I do not know exactly where the valley was perhaps in Colonial times? Bagpipe type or folk song?
