Well, according to Neil they, Neil and Carole, were mates ( indeed, they dated for a while) and he was a sort of mentor to Carole in the early days ( Neil is three years older ). Neil is a fabulous musician. Virtuoso level on the piano, and voice to die for. BUT, he has upset so many people ( I think he lacks tact, for one thing) and famously Elton John dropped him as a friend.
