Find songs that suit your voice and vocal range best (and that you enjoy singing - the enjoyment is infectious). Ask others for their candid opinion too. If you can get hold of it (or ask your library) Roy Palmer - Everyman's Book of English Country Songs is a good source for chorus songs.
