Yes, "filled him fort." The "whaw my kingdom" rendering appears in a few publications (I don't remember the specifics offhand). It's tantalizing to think it might provide insight to an accessible "actual" meaning of "maringo," but I favor the hypothesis that the writer was attempting to rationalize "maringo" into something he could understand (as I believe may have been the case with "Shenandoah").
