Printed in "The catch club, or, Merry companions: being a choice collection of the most diverting catches for three and four voices", 1761, as round number 85, with the lyrics "Nose, nose, nose, nose / Shall I ever see thee red"

In other words it's an 18th century drinking song that has received a faux-mediaeval makeover in more recent times.
