One advantage of being labelled a "senior" in Oz is that we are eligible for the Seniors Card if we're working less than 21 hours per week. There are discounts on public transport and all sorts of other things. I'll accept being an oldie if there is a worthwhile advantage, and reject the title when it suits me. My attire tends towards the hippie end of the scale as well. In the months after I retired I dyed my hair bright purple to celebrate. It was fun. It's a more sedate (NOT!) mulberry colour now.
