GUILTY OF LOVE
(Willis)

Guilty of love in the first degree
So He had to go to Calvary
Where He shed His last drop of blood for me
As they found Jesus guilty of love in the first degree

"Order in the court room. Would you bring the prisoner forth, please? And what, sir, is your name?"
And He said, "Jesus of Nazareth."
"You're accused of healing on the Sabbath day, and many other things the Elders did say. And they say that your disciples did pluck corn on the Sabbath day and did eat, and that you yourself sat with sinners at meet. What do you have to say for yourself?"
But Jesus kept silent that day.
"But wait, let's see what the witnesses have to say."

Guilty of love in the first degree

"My name is Bartimaeus, and I could not see the light of day. But I can see today because of Him."
And another came, and another, and another, and he said, "I was a leper. I was one of the ten. And I just had to come back this final time just to glorify Him."
And on and on they came that day. And each for Christ had kind words to say. But then the crowd began to cry, "Crucify! Crucify! Give us Barabbas. Today, this man Jesus must die."
So they took him away to a hill called Mount Calvary; there, they nailed his hands and his feet to the old rugged cross. There He shed his last drop of blood for you and for me because the jury surely found Him guilty that day. Guilty of love in the first degree.

Guilty of love in the first degree
So He had to go to Calvary
Where He shed His last drop of blood for me
As they found Jesus guilty of love in the first degree
