Subject: Lyr Add: I'll Put On A Crown (Brumley)
From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 09:11 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

I'LL PUT ON A CROWN
(A. E. Brumley)

I am on a journey to that city four-square
And by the faith and the love of God I surely will surely enter there
With some bright tomorrow, with the saints I'll stand
I'll put on a crown and I'll walk around all over God's promised land

CHORUS
Oh what glory, oh, what a wonderful day
I'll join the throng at the blood-washed throng while the ages roll away
When I get to Heaven on that beautiful strand
I'll put on a crown and I'll walk around all over God's promised land

Kindred friends and loved ones robed in garments white
Will be there when I enter in that city of endless light
While the saints are singing on that golden strand
I'll put on a crown and I'll walk around all over God's promised land

CHORUS

There will be no dying, no more trouble or strife
We will live through the ages by that beautiful stream of life
When I join that chorus, Heaven's happy band
I'll put on a crown and walk around all over God's promised land

Subject: Lyr Add: How Can You Refuse Him Now?
From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 09:05 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

HOW CAN YOU REFUSE HIM NOW?

There's a story of old that has often been told
Of how our Savior died
As they nailed His hand, He cried "They don't understand"
As the blood flowed from His side

CHORUS
How can you refuse Him now? How can you refuse Him now?
How can you turn away from His side?
With tears in His eyes, on the cross there He died
How can you refuse Jesus now?

As He hung there on the tree, He prayed for you and for me
There was no one His pain to ease
Before He died, He plainly cried
"Father, forgive them, please"

CHORUS

From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 09:02 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

PRAYING FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME
(Loving)

Praying, praying for someone like me

Not long ago I was thinking of home
And I wondered if mamma was there all alone
I thought I'd drop by as I'd done before
But the sound from within made me stop at the door

She was praying, a sound that the world seldom hears
Praying, her words were pleading and clear
The sound of her voice as she spoke my name
Brought tears to my eyes, my heart filled with shame
She was praying, praying for someone like me

I was walking one night and I felt so alone
My heart was weary from the trouble I'd known
I hadn't noticed a church that was near
'Til a sound from within seemed to fill the air

They were praying, a sound that the world seldom hears
Praying, the children that God loved, so dear
Outside in the darkness I could not see
But I could picture them down on their knees
They were praying, praying for someone like me

From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 08:58 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

THE VOICE OF MY SAVIOUR
(Martin, Long)

I remember one night, in an old-fashioned meeting
I was praying to God to redeem my pour soul
I heard a sweet voice a-speaking so kindly
I started that night to make Heaven my home

CHORUS
I heard a sweet voice so tenderly calling
Saying "Arise and be saved evermore"
I knew it must be the voice of my Savior
For I had not heard a voice like it before

I'll never forget that old-fashioned meeting
I'll never forget when I knelt to pray
When I heard the voice of my loving Savior
And I felt the burdens of sin roll away

I'm glad that I heard the voice of my Savior
I know I'm redeemed by His wonderful grace
Someday when He calls I'll go up to Heaven
And in that fair city I'll look on His face

CHORUS

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

WHEN HE REACHED OWN HIS HAND
(G. E. Wright)

Once my soul was afar from the Heavenly way
I was wretched and blind as could be
But my Savior, in love, turned my darkness to day
When He reached down His hand for me

CHORUS
When my Savior reached down for me
When He reached a-way down for me
I was lost and undone without God or His Son
When He reached down His hand for me

I was near to despair when He spoke to me there
And He showed me that I could be free
Then He lifted me up out of Satan's dark snare
When He reached down His hand for me

CHORUS

From: cnd

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

JUST AS THE SUN WENT DOWN
(Luther Presley)

Love like this was never known
Though you search the world around
Jesus, dying for his own
Just as the sun went down

CHORUS
Just as the evening sun was sinking in the golden west
Hanging between two thieves, the Son of God stood every test
Mocked by the multitudes, they placed on Him a thorn-made crown
Love like this was never known, Jesus dying for His own
Just as the sun went down

Hear Him praying there alone
Catch again the plaintive sound
"Oh, forgive them," hear Him mourn
Just as the sun went down

CHORUS

JERUSALEM FAIR
(J. F. Taylor)

John saw that holy city, the New Jerusalem
Coming down from God out of Heaven above
Prepared a bride adorned who awaits her husband
Home of all redeemed, purified by love

CHORUS
Jerusalem fair (Jerusalem fair)
I long to be there (I long to be there)
The streets, we are told
Are paved with purest gold
No mortal here has trod
The tree of life grows (the tree of life grows)
The stream of life flows (the stream of life flows)
Out from the Father's throne
For all the Savior's own
Blest city of our God

He saw the tree of life with its crystal waters
Flowing from the throne through that wondrous land
He saw the tree of life that is everlasting
Lighted by God's glory, 'twill ever stand

CHORUS

From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 08:36 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

THANK YOU LORD FOR SETTING ME FREE
(Jean Ledford)

When I fell on my knees at the altar
And I prayed "Lord, have mercy on me"
The mighty hand of God reached down from Heaven
Took my burdens all the way and set me free

Lord, use me some way for Thy glory
Let me walk close beside Thee today
Guide my steps along this pathway I must travel
Keep me humble, precious Lord, this I pray

There have been so many years that I have wasted
So much grief and so much pain I've had to bear
But the Lord looked out ahead and saw the future
And for this He always kept me in His care

Thank you, Lord, for your wonderful mercy
Thank you, Lord, for your grace so full and free
For without you, I know that I am nothing at all
Thank you Lord for setting me free

From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 08:31 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

WHEN HE HEARD MY PLEA
(Carson)

While traveling down life's highway of sin and misery
One night my Savior found me down on my bended knees
I heard how He had loved me and I was so undone
And now I praise Him for it from morn to setting son

CHORUS
Oh yes, I know my Savior set me free
I pray this prayer: "Be merciful to me"
By faith alone I took him, and He looked down on me
He blessed my soul, it made me whole, when He heard my plea

The chains of sin were broken and I found liberty
In Christ my Lord and master who died on Calvary
I promised Him I'd crown Him my King forevermore
And some day I would see Him up there on Heaven's shore

CHORUS

Now, brother, if you're weary and rest you cannot find
Just kneel before an altar, leave all your cares behind
Have faith in one who loves you, and He will come to see
He'll take you in the lifeboat and give you victory

CHORUS

Subject: Lyr Add: Let Me Like Elijah Pray
From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 08:25 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

LET ME LIKE ELIJAH PRAY

Oh, Elijah, in the long ago
Won a battle without a shield or bow
Down on his knees he went to pray
Then the God Bael refused to hear
And the people all began to fear
Lord, let me now like Elijah pray

CHORUS
Oh, Elijah prayed and it did not rain
But he prayed and prayed and he prayed again
'Til a cloud was seen up in the sky
And the mighty rain fell by and by
Lord, let me now like Elijah pray

By the hand of God he was safely led
For the ravens brought him meat and bread
Down on his knees he went to pray
But the Lord increased the oil and the meal
A widow's son for her did heal
Lord, let me now like Elijah pray

CHORUS

STARTED OUT TO FIND A BETTER HOME
(S. Trace)

As I traveled day by day
On this good ole gospel way
I am singing as I journey o'er each mile
Though affliction pressed my soul
And the storms around me rolled
I just brush away the tears and try to smile

CHORUS
Well, I started out to find a better home
Where the troubles of this life can never come
Though the force of hell assail
I know my Lord will never fail
I'll keep pressing 'til I reach life's setting sun

Soon I'll lay my armor down
And put on my robe and crown
Until then, my humble prayer is "Dear Lord, please
Keep me underneath the spout
Where the Glory's coming out
Make my life a daily blessing to my friend"

CHORUS

From: cnd
Date: 08 Jan 23 - 08:05 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Glory Road, LFLP 24

LEADING MY LORD FROM THE GARDEN OF PRAYER
(Ledford & Martin)

The world's greatest story, from the, Bible we're told
How the city was crowded on a night that was cold
In a manger so lonely our Savior was born
Just to get sent from Heaven from the Father above

CHORUS
The night was so lonely, how mother did weep
While outside the garden, the watchmen did sleep
The soldiers had gathered, oh, what a sad hour
They were leading my Lord from the Garden of Prayer

So sad is the story, the life that He lived
Despised and rejected, yet men He forgave
"Oh, Father, forgive them" were the last words He cried
His head bowed in sorrow, for the world there He died

CHORUS

THIS LIFE
(Luther Presley)

This life is like the fleeting shadows of time
So swiftly passing by
A few short years and then the evening bells chime
Appointed once to die

CHORUS
They say my days are numbered, God wills it so
How far I still must travel I do not know
My house must be in order at even tide
Ready to meet the boatman at riverside

Just like the flowers in the springtime must fade
We, too, must disappear
But if our faith in Jesus is firmly staid
We'll live again somewhere

CHORUS

Some day will come the ending of life's short race
This cross I shall lay down
Then, oh, what rapture in that wonderful place
Where peace and rest are found

CHORUS

GLORY ROAD
(Ledford)

In the road that leads to glory
I am walking day by day
And the tidings of salvation
I am telling all the way

Jesus is a friend of sinners
And when He brought down my soul
He, in mercy, turned my vision
To that bright eternal goal

CHORUS
Seems I hear sweet heavenly voices
Calling me to come on home
Mid the splendor of that city
Where redeemed ones find a home

If to grace you are a stranger
Heeding not the Savior's voice
Leave, oh leave, the way of darkness
And in mercy's light rejoice

When the toils of life grow weary
In this languid, sinful land
Leave the flood and claim the promise
In the Savior's grace we stand

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, The Great High Mountain, LFLP 23

I WAS SAVED THAT NIGHT
(Rev. R. Cravens)

I was saved that night in an old country church
When I knelt at an altar of prayer
When the blessed Lord took my sins all away
It was joy far beyond all compare

CHORUS
I was saved that night, yes, I know I was saved
And today I rejoice in the Lord
Oh, He walks with me every step of the way
On and on to that Home of Reward

I was saved that night through repentance and faith
Trusting Christ, I was borne from the blood
By the spirit's power, all my life was made new
Now I sing of His wonderful love

CHORUS

I was saved that night, yes, I know the Lord came
Not a doubt of His blessings have I
I am traveling on with salvation so free
Going home to that city on high

OLD SHIP OF ZION

I was lost in sin and sorrow on an isle in life's dark sea
When I saw, far in the distance, a ship, it seems to be
Then I saw the captain beckon, then He called out loud and free
"I have come, my friend, to save you -- get on board and follow me!"

'Tis the old Ship of Zion
'Tis the old Ship of Zion
'Tis the old Ship of Zion
Get on board, get on board

There's no danger in the water
There's no danger in the water
There's no danger in the water
Get on board, get on board

It has landed many a pilgrim
It has landed many a pilgrim
Get on board, get on board

Lord, when are you coming?
Lord, I've waited so long
Lord, I'm getting so homesick
Lord, I want to go home

Footsore and weary, lonesome and blue
Homesick for Heaven, for Mother and you
I've been reading my Bible, I feel so all alone
Come and get me Jesus, Lord I want to go home

Lord, when can I see you?
Lord, I've been looking so long
Lord, I'm anxious to see you
Lord I want to go home

Lord, this world is not friendly
To your children down here
Give us grace to travel
With these heartaches and tears

Footsore and weary, lonesome and blue
Homesick for Heaven, for Mother and you
I've been reading my Bible, I feel so all alone
Come and get me Jesus, Lord I want to go home

From: cnd

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, The Great High Mountain, LFLP 23

ALL THE WAY TO CALVARY

Just before His trial, Jesus entered dark Gethsemane
Leaving eight outside, took Peter and two sons of Zebedee
Oh, the anguish in the garden, as He left the other three
Then He went a little farther, all the way to Calvary

CHORUS
Let us go a little farther, farther than we've gone before
We are workers now for Jesus -- let us do a little more

See Him groaning, hear Him praying, death sweeps o'er Him like a flood
"Father, may this cup pass from me?" Sweat runs down as drops of blood
"Not my will, but I will drink it; let Thy will be done in me"
Then He went a little farther, all the way to Calvary

Now at Pilate's bar, behold Him, as the mob who mocked him cried
"Away, away, give us Barabbas -- let this Christ be crucified!"
Oh Barabbas, Oh Barabbas, Jesus died for you and me
Then He went a little farther, all the way to Calvary

Who will sing for me?

CHORUS
I wonder who will sing for me?
When I come to the cross of the silent sea
Who will sing for me?

When crowds shall gather round
And look down on me
Will they turn and walk away
Or will they sing one song for me?

CHORUS

Here on earth we often sing
The sweet songs we love so well
But when this life is o'er
Will you have them sing for me?

From: cnd
Date: 04 Jan 23 - 08:21 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, The Great High Mountain, LFLP 23

I'M NOT TURNING BACKWARD

You've heard of a wonderful story in the Bible long ago
When the world was lost and God frowned down on this old world below
Then came the beloved Savior, said "Father, let me go
And save the people from their sin, they're dear to us, you know"

They crucified my Savior, they nailed Him to the cross
He shed His precious blood on earth, that the world might not be lost
Oh, I'm not turning backward, His face I long to see
For Jesus came down to this old world and gave His life for me

Oh, sinners, are you ready, when your life on earth is done
To take your stand at God's right hand when the end of life is come?
Too late to make your changes when your life on earth is through
If God should call your soul tonight, what would become of you?

Before I close my story, I want to tell you all
The reason why you see men rise and then you see them fall
On account of the earthly treasures, their sins will not depart
Although the Savior died for them on the cross with a broken heart

TWO COATS
(Ralph Stanley)

Two coats were before me, an old and a new
I could have either, so what must I do
One old coat was ugly and terribly torn
The other, a new one, had never been worn

The old coat was earthly and not fit to wear
I thought it often and shed many a tear
Then there was a clean one, presented to you
I laid off the old coat and put on the new

CHORUS
I'll tell you the best thing I ever did do
I laid off the old coat and put on the new

The first man was earthly and made from the ground
We bore all his image the whole world around
The next was my Savior from Heaven so fair
He gave me this new coat you'll now see me wear

Now this coat it fits me and keeps me warm
It's good in the winter, it's good in the storm
My Savior has dressed me in garments so rare
He filled me with glory, His image I'll bear

THE GREAT HIGH MOUNTAIN

Once I stood at the foot of a great high mountain
That I wanted so much to climb
And on top of this mountain was a beautiful fountain
That flows with the waters of life

I fell down on my knees at the foot of this mountain
I cried, "O Lord what must I do?
I want to climb this mountain, I want to drink from the fountain
That's flowing so clear to my view"

Then I heard a sweet voice from the top of this mountain
Saying, "Child put your hand in mine
Start climbing slowly, watch your steps at the edges
And take one step at a time"

I started climbing upward taking one step at a time
And the higher I got, the harder I climbed
I'm still climbing upward and my journey's almost ended
I'm nearing the top and you ought to see the view

Oh the waters flow so freely, there's enough to make you free
So my friend, if you're thirsty, climb this mountain with me

He'll hold my hand (hold to my hand, hold to my hand)
As over death's river I go
Then safe I'll be (safe I shall be, safe I shall be)
In beautiful Heaven I know

My bark shall sail safely though waves dash high
For Jesus will be at my side
He'll still the rough waters when by and by
I'm crossing the river so wide

CHORUS

I'm ready to go to that golden shore
To live there while ages shall roll
I want to meet mother and saints of yore
In Heaven, the home of the soul

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Heavenly Mansion, LFLP 22

THEN I'LL SETTLE DOWN
(C. B. WYCUFF)

As I travel through this land, many times can't understand
Why I must keep traveling here below
But I have this work to do and I mean to see it through
Til Jesus says it's time to go

CHORUS
I would like to settle down here in this old world below
And have a place to call my own
There are many lost in sin -- someone needs to bring them in
And so I must keep traveling on

But when the day is through, there's a home beyond the blue
Resting peaceful, all the faithful few
I should settle down up there in that home so bright and fair
'Twill be my glad eternal home

CHORUS

Oft the ways seem dark and long as I try to carry on
Many times the battle wages so
But this race will soon be run and I'll hear his words, "Well done,
Come and enter forevermore"

CHORUS

But when the day is through, there's a home beyond the blue
Resting peaceful, all the faithful few
I should settle down up there in that home so bright and fair
'Twill be my glad eternal home

PRISONER OF LOVE

When I came to Jesus I settled it all

I willingly toil (I willingly toil) through the heat and the cold (through the heat and the cold)

I'm happy his servant to be
In bondage to Jesus forever I'll stay
My soul doesn't was to be free

From: cnd

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Heavenly Mansion, LFLP 22

GUILTY OF LOVE
(Willis)

Guilty of love in the first degree
So He had to go to Calvary
Where He shed His last drop of blood for me
As they found Jesus guilty of love in the first degree

"Order in the court room. Would you bring the prisoner forth, please? And what, sir, is your name?"
And He said, "Jesus of Nazareth."
"You're accused of healing on the Sabbath day, and many other things the Elders did say. And they say that your disciples did pluck corn on the Sabbath day and did eat, and that you yourself sat with sinners at meet. What do you have to say for yourself?"
But Jesus kept silent that day.
"But wait, let's see what the witnesses have to say."

Guilty of love in the first degree

"My name is Bartimaeus, and I could not see the light of day. But I can see today because of Him."
And another came, and another, and another, and he said, "I was a leper. I was one of the ten. And I just had to come back this final time just to glorify Him."
And on and on they came that day. And each for Christ had kind words to say. But then the crowd began to cry, "Crucify! Crucify! Give us Barabbas. Today, this man Jesus must die."
So they took him away to a hill called Mount Calvary; there, they nailed his hands and his feet to the old rugged cross. There He shed his last drop of blood for you and for me because the jury surely found Him guilty that day. Guilty of love in the first degree.

Guilty of love in the first degree
So He had to go to Calvary
Where He shed His last drop of blood for me
As they found Jesus guilty of love in the first degree

FEAR NOT MY CHILD
(S. TRACE)

Sometimes in troubled waters, then I stop to think
Though my ship is battered, I know it cannot sink
My God delivered Moses and led him safely through
Each day I hear Him whisper "I'll do the same for you"

CHORUS
"Fear not my child, for I will see you through
There's nothing in this world too hard for me to do
I delivered Daniel from the lions' den, raised Lazarus from the dead
I'm just the same, I never changed," are the words that Jesus said

My Lord gave comfort to old Job when the hour was dark
And He took care of Noah when He told him to build and ark
He helped little David slay the giant to set the captive free
And every time I kneel and pray I hear Him say to me

CHORUS

My God delivered Jonah, made him willing to obey
He walked upon the waters, and He calmed the sea one day
He went to the fiery furnace with the Hebrew three
And when my soul is burdened, I hear Him say to me

CHORUS

MY LORD AND MY GOD
(Luther Presley)

Though I never met the Master just like Thomas did of old
As upon this earth He trod
I believe the gospel story is the sweetest ever told
My Lord and my God

CHORUS
My Lord, my light upon the way
Let me lean on thy staff and rod
Though I did not see the nail prints, I'm so glad that I can say
My Lord and my God

Though I did not see Him dying on the cross of Calvary
As they mocked him with a nod
But I have a living witness, and it's good enough for me
My Lord and my God

CHORUS

Though I did not see the angels when the stone was rolled away
And the story may seem odd
But I'm sure that Mary saw Him when He spoke to her that day
My Lord and my God

CHORUS

Praise the Lord for the joy of living in the light of His wonderful love

Down in my soul, what a happy feeling, as I walk with the heavenly dove
I've got that old time religion that you hear people talk about

I've got that old time religion, I feel it every day
It makes me love everybody in the good old fashioned way
Oh yes I love, love my Savior and I praise Him with a shout

Why should I grieve if it makes old Satan power (won't you bow?)

DELIVERANCE WILL COME
(Traditional)

I saw a wayworn traveler in tattered garments clad
While struggling up the mountain, it seemed that he was said
His back was laden heavy, his strength was almost gone
But he shouted as he journeyed, "Deliverance will come!"

CHORUS
Then palms of victory, crowns of glory
Palms of victory I shall bare

I saw him in the evening, the sun was bending low
He'd overtopped the mountain and reached the vale below
While gazing on that city, his everlasting home
He shouted loud "Hosanna, deliverance will come!"

CHORUS

He saw that holy city, his everlasting home
A band of holy angels all gathered 'round God's throne
They bore him on their pinions safe o'er the dashing foam
And they shouted "Hallelujah, deliverance has come"

I've been on the land and the sea
I have seen the great castles and mansions so grand
But none were erected for me

CHORUS
I'm moving*
To a home on that beautiful shore
Soon I'm leaving*
My moving days then will be o'er

What matters if I have no home on this earth
A mansion and riches galore
For I soon will be moving to mansions above
Where I need this world's riches no more

CHORUS

When at last I have moved into Heaven's fair land
At home on that beautiful shore
You will know where to find me through ages to come
For I shall be moving no more

In the Bible we read of a mansion

Men will sing the songs with the angel
There with our Lord, the one who loves us so

Up there our loved ones will be waiting
Many others we've never known before
And our voices will rumble like the water
When the saints all gather on that shore

CHORUS

Up there, there'll be no hungry children
No widows will have to toil for bread
For the Lamb will lead them by the water
By His hand they gently shall be fed

A King that was lowly and just
"Hosanna," they cried, as He rode in that day
Yet His own would turn Him away

CHORUS

He borrowed the bread and five thousand fed
On a grassy mountainside
He borrowed a dish of broken fish
With which he satisfied

CHORUS

He borrowed a room on the way to his tomb
The Lord's Last Supper to eat
They borrowed a cave, was for Him a grave
And they borrowed a pure white sheet

But I have a sweet assurance that my soul the Lord will keep
And in Him there is grace for every need

THE CROSS IN THE GARDEN
(E. M. Baygents)

There's a home beyond the river where the saints shall live forever
In a home, that blessed home of the free
'Twas prepared for habitation at the end of our salvation
Through the cross that stood on dark Calvary

CHORUS
Jesus went into the garden and He prayed unto the Father
"Oh my God, let this cup pass from me"
The disciples all were sleeping while the son of God was weeping
In the garden of Gethsemane

In a garden close to Heaven all our sins were then forgiven
When our Savior redeemed us from loss
Our dear Lord in pain and sorrow gave us all our hopes tomorrow
Dying there upon the old rugged cross

THE CRY FROM THE CROSS
(J. Masters)

One morning in Jerusalem, just about the break of dawn
A trial was in session, they trying my dear Lord
They beat Him and they scorned Him, and they made Him carry His cross
On top of Calvary's mountain they crucified my Lord

CHORUS
Oh, the cry from the cross
Forgive them, Blessed Father, He died upon the cross
Oh, the cry from the cross
The Son of God was dying to save the world from loss

Crying "Father, it is finished," then He bowed His head and died
This world, it was in darkness, and the soldiers pierced His sides
The debt for sin He paid there in full for you and me
He gave Himself a ransom, salvation to be free

CHORUS

They let His friends then take Him and they laid him in a tomb
Not knowing He would rise again and vanquish all the gloom
An earthquake rocked Jerusalem and the dead walked in the town
The multitudes was frightened, God's wrath come pouring down

CHORUS

Just a few more miles to travel
Just a little more time left to stay
Then I'll leave this old world and its trail

Oh, what a sight for this man to behold

THE LITTLE OLD CHURCH BY THE ROAD

Often times in my memory I've wandered again to the little old church by the road
I can see the dear people and hear them so plain singing songs of the blessed abode
I can hear my dear mother as she fervently prayed, "blessed Jesus help me carry my load"
She was never downhearted and never dismayed in the little old church by the road

CHORUS
There my mother was praying while the preacher was saying "sinners come and repent your sins"
There the evil was routed and the sisters all shouted while the brethren were saying amen
It was there I met Jesus and gave Him my life, it was there He took the weight off my load
And He freely removed all my sorrow and strife in the little old church by the road

I can never forget all those lovely old songs that the people so joyfully sang
How they bore the Lord message to the poor sinful throng and the echoes so joyfully rang
I shall always remember when I truly believed, Jesus freely took the weight off my load
And the joy of salvation I fully received in the little old church by the road
