Which authors have avoided the absurd assumptions that would allow for the possibility of communication with aliens of a different evolution.
Learning that perceptions would most likely be very different.

"Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir (author of 'The Martian')
This is his second book, and shortlisted for this year's Hugo awards.
Most of the book deals with interactions between just one earthman, and one eridanian (sightless, and communicating by musicality)
