The book by Chivers: "The Gun" is about the design, development, and massive manufacture of the AK-47 which was stockpiled in the millions and used by the USSR as an inducement to influence foreign policy. It was a tool in the deaths of over a million people since its creation. Apparently its namesake, Mikhail Kalashnikov, was quite proud of his design, but also aware of its consequences and not proud of that part. Which also reminded me of the Nicolas Cage movie of almost 20 years ago: "Lord of War"
