I was singing the carol yesterday (Nowell, nowell, nowell, nowell... This is the salutation of the angel Gabriel.) I was telling how it appears to have been the source for Bring us in Good Ale. One fellow offered that it also appears to be the tune for High Barbary. I can see the similarity in form but do not thing it is close to the same tune.
